In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

However, embracing Islam and saying the Shahada (La Ilaha Illa Allah) “there is no god but God” is not enough, applying its laws and principles is also very important.

Etiquettes and practices of eating:

Dua After Eating & Etiquettes and practices of eating_

True Islam did not leave anything for us without talking about it, even the things that we see as small, to indicate that it is a religion that cares about all the details of life and the important aspects of humans.

Our role model in knowing these etiquette is the Messenger of Allah, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. Through the hadiths of the Messenger of God, we know the etiquette of food and drink, which we recognize through the following points:

  • Wash hands and face before eating and drinking:

This has the benefit of not transmitting harmful germs and bacteria and protecting people from diseases and epidemics that may be in the hands or transmitted to food due to not washing the hands, and thus the germs are transmitted to the digestive system.
  • Saying The Dua before Eating:

It is saying “Bismillah” in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful, over any food and drink, and in case of forgetfulness, we can say Bismillah awwalahu wa akhirahu (I begin with the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end), in compliance with what the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said.
  • Meeting over food:

One of the Sunnah enacted by the Messenger of God is that people gather on food and drink, as it is more appropriate to obtain the blessing of food. One of the companions came to the Messenger of God complaining of not being full no matter how much he ate, and the Messenger of God advised him to eat in a group until the blessing gets on this food.
  • Eating with the right hand:

It is considered an important etiquette, which is eating with the right hand, in compliance with the saying of the Prophet: (None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, As Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with it), so it is obligatory to eat with the right hand unless you are left-handed, that is, you only use the hand left in food and drink.
  • Eat what follows You:

An important etiquette is to eat only what is next to you or in front of you.
  • Do not blow on food:

One of the bad habits that we can do without realizing it is blowing on food and drink. Our Holy Prophet forbade this, and various studies have proven that blowing on food has a health risk.
  • Drinking in three gulps:

One of the etiquettes of drinking is that we do not drink water or juices, etc. at once, but three times, following the example of our honorable Messenger, peace, and blessings be upon him.

These were the etiquette of drinking and eating in Islam, which was practiced by the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and these etiquettes must be known by every Muslim, male and female, and applied every day to obtain reward and reward.
